With over two decades entrenched in the food service industry, I've gained a comprehensive understanding of its intricate workings, starting from distribution logistics to overseeing franchise operations. My journey has seen me in various roles, from being a hands-on franchisee and operator to orchestrating the setup of a central distribution commissary and leading the successful opening of over 50 franchised units.
Known among my colleagues as a proficient builder, my career has been a testament to constructing more than just sandwiches and physical spaces. I've built cohesive teams, nurtured a thriving restaurant brand, curated enriching customer experiences, and developed a robust tech infrastructure—a personal favorite pursuit of mine.
Additionally, as the resident CTO at Groucho's Deli, I advocate for the adoption of open and bi-directional APIs and promote industry-wide data standards. My steadfast belief is that while technology can't replace human interactions when utilized effectively, it can significantly enhance guest experiences and operational efficiencies. My strategic decision to modernize operations propelled the decades-old Groucho's Deli chain into resilience and prosperity, particularly during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I'm a staunch proponent of customer-centricity, emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing people, pride, and passion in all facets of business endeavors. Anything less than wholehearted dedication, in my opinion, is a recipe for obscurity, echoing the timeless wisdom of Yoda: "Do or do not; there is no try."
Beyond my professional pursuits, I find fulfillment in my roles as a devoted husband and father to two wonderful daughters, as well as the proud caretaker of two beloved dogs. In my leisure time, you'll often find me tending to my yard, enjoying soulful music, or embracing the revitalizing effects of exercise in my hometown of Columbia, South Carolina.
