Matt Smith is a data and AI leader with a passion for business innovation and transformation.

Matt has over 10 years of experience at Microsoft, where he played a key role in the incubation and creation of the field CDO role, a strategic position that helps customers accelerate their digital transformation journeys. He currently leads a talented team of data and AI specialists that support over 130 of the largest enterprises in the West United States across various industries, such as travel, hospitality, gaming, professional services, and energy.

Matt sits on the board of directors for a Supply Chain Startup that uses AI to optimize supply chain operations, increase basket size and reduce costs. He is the co-founder of a local children's retail brand, and he is a mentor in the Microsoft for Startups, a program geared at helping start up companies accelerate value and time to market.

Matt started his career in a Midwest restaurant chain, where he worked across all back and front of the house roles. He credits his work ethic to working in a high pressure restaurant environment, where he learned the importance of teamwork, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Matt holds a degree in Computer Engineering from Oakland University. He is an active member of the data and AI community and is a co-chair of the Evanta CDAO Southern California Chapter.
